The US232R-100 is FTDI's premium USB to RS232 evaluation cable which can be used for testing the functionality of the FT232R device and drivers prior to design-in. The electronics, including the FT232RQ chip are housed in an attractive glossy white enclosure with blue, side-lit LED Tx and Rx traffic indicators. A matching white 1m USB cable uses gold plated USB and DB9 connectors.
The US232R-100 uses an enhanced RS232 level converter and is capable of communication rates from 300 Baud to 1M Baud.
The US232R-100 is fully RoHS compliant and is CE and FCC approved.
VCP drivers for Windows, Apple Mac and Linux can be downloaded from the FTDI website.

Excellent adapter

After trying a few different kinds of USB to RS 232 converters I found that not all converters were created equal. This one, and its 10cm cousin,worked on all types of machines with no problem.

Works as expected.
The USB to serial chip has driver support across many operating systems. Tested with Open/FreeBSD, Windows XP,7,8,10 and Linux Debian/Ubuntu.
Have purchased several of these and had no faults.
I have tried slightly cheaper models in the past only to have most adapters fail, or have flaky driver support.
Buy this if you want a reliable USB to Serial converter.
In most cases I need to couple this with a female to female null modem cable or adapter.
